Christmas with the MoTab

music and the spoken word

Ann Kallas, the wife of the other member of Mike's BYU Bishopric,

had tickets to the Tabernacle Choir Broadcast on Sunday. So after my

7AM meeting, four of us ladies headed to SLC in rather treacherous

weather to hear the Christmas broadcast.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square perform at the Conference Center during “The Wondrous Gift of Christmas.”

It was a special treat for all 20,000+ spectators to ALSO get

to enjoy the Christmas production The Wonderous Gift of

Christmas featuring Natalie Cole and David McCullough.

I am amazed at the evolution of this performance since the old

Tabernacle days. It is a first class production with full orchestra,

dancers or varying kinds, bell ringers and much more!!!

Mack Wilberg, David McCullough and Natalie Cole answer questions during a press conference held earlier this morning.

Natalie Cole was amazing with the Choir and

being the history buff that Mike is....David McCullough has

long been one of Mike's idols. We LOVE his John Adams book

and the TV series that was made from it. Mike is taking

another of Mr. McCullough's books with him to India this week.

President Thomas S. Monson addresses the gathering on the spirit of the season.

It was a special treat to have Pres. Monsen there to personally

thank the guests and present them with special gifts. Both Natalie Cole

and David McCullough took a few minutes to express their feelings and

the most touching moment was when Pres. Monsen asked them to turn

and face the choir as they sang "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again".

Both of them shed several tears.

What a great experience it was to be there.....I wish Mike

could have shared it with me but I'm so grateful that Ann was

kind enough to invite me. Thank you, Ann!!
